AWWDA Board consultative meeting with board members from Tanathi Water Works Development Agency.

On 28th November 2022 AWWDA board members, today held a consultative meeting with board members from Tanathi Water Works Development Agency (TAWWDA). The meeting discussed mechanisms of fast tracking implementation of projects in the Tanathi area under the Kenya Towns Sustainable Program.

The board members later conducted a joint inspection of the Matuu Water Supply Project which is part of the Kitui-Matuu water supply. The project involves the Construction of intake works on the Yatta canal; the construction of a new 4 million liters per day water treatment plant, and laying of 64 km of water transmission and distribution network in NYS Yatta, Matuu, Kithimani, Ndalani, and Sofia towns; Construction of 108,000 litres elevated steel water storage tank at Yatta NYS camp; Construction of 225,000-litre concrete water storage tank at Ndalani town; Installation of a solar power farm at the new water treatment plant.

Upon completion, the project will serve 40,000 residents of Kithimani, Matuu town, Ndalani and NYS Yatta . As part of last-mile connectivity, the project will see the supply of consumer meters and the installation of 1,500 consumer water connections for households

The team was led by the TAWWDA Chairman Mr. William Ole Mayiani. He was flanked by TAWWDA Board Members, AWWDA Board Members, AWWDA CEO, Eng. Michael M. Thuita, TAWWDA CEO Eng. Fredrick Mwamati and management teams from AWWDA and TAWWDA.
