Principal Secretary inspection of Mangoto Community Water Supply

6th March 2021, the Principal Secretary Joseph Irungu Wairagu, CBS Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Irrigation inspected Mangoto Water Supply Project in Maragua constituency, Muranga County. The project will supply 280,000 litres of water per day and benefit 5,000 residents of Mangoto and Kimururi areas.

Mangoto Water supply project is part of the 193 independent community projects aimed at increasing water supply to the vulnerable communities especially during this COVID-19 pandemic.

The project which was implemented by Athi Water Works Development Agency in partnership with Nairobi Metropolitan Services involved drilling of borehole, construction of a 48,000 litre elevated steel tank, three water kiosks providing clean free water and 5km water distribution network.

He was accompanied by State Dept of Fisheries PS Dr. Francis Owino, MP Maragua Hon. Mary Wamaua, Area MCA’s, Chairman NWHSA Erick Okeyo, AWWDA Director Peter Kihungi, Area DCC, AWWDA CM-W&S Works Eng. Joseph Kamau and other senior officials.
