Inspection of Free Water Water Supply Projects for Informal Settlements

The Cabinet Secretary Water, Sanitation and Irrigation Sicily Kariuki (Mrs.) inspected the completed independent community water supply projects for low income areas in Machakos and Kajiado County.

The CS started by inspecting Kwa Mangeli Community Water Supply in Machakos which produces 150,000 litres of clean water per day and consists of 2 free water kiosk, pump house, 24,000 litres elevated steel tank and borehole.

She then proceeded to inspect Athi River Community Water Supply Project which produces 50,000 litres per day serving Jua Kali Slums and Kitengela Community Water Supply serving Kitengela Prison and it’s environs with 310,000 litres per day.

The CS later proceeded to inspect Isinya Community Water Supply in Majengo Slums, Kajiado County which produces 50,000 litres of water per day. The CS was also cordially invited to address pupils of God’s Vision Primary School where she made a donation for masks for the school children.

She wrapped up the inspection by visiting Embul-bul Community Water Supply in Kajiado with a high yield of 360,000 litres per day and consists of a 48,000 litres elevated steel tank, 2 free water kiosks, 1 new borehole and pump house.

The CS was accompanied by AWWDA CEO Eng. Michael Thuita, local leaders and members of local administration.
