‌Commissioning and Inspection of Water, Sanitation and Irrigation Projects for Kiambu County

‌Today the Principal Secretary Joseph Wairagu inspected water, sanitation and Irrigation projects in Kiambu County. He began by inspecting Tigoni Water Supply project which benefits more than 50,000 residents, supplying 1.5 million litres of water per day. He then proceeded to Gichika in Gatundu to inspect ongoing Gatundu Water and Sewerage Project intake works. The project is part of the Kenya Towns Sustainable Water Supply and Sanitation Program (KTSWSSP) which aims to improve the access, quality, availability and sustainability of water and wastewater services in regional centres and towns.

‌After the intake works, the PS proceeded to inspect Ruabora and Kamuka Irrigation Project. Finally, he commissioned Mutomo Community Water Supply in Mutomo which is set to supply 100,000 litres of water per day and benefit over 2,000 residents of Mutomo Area.

‌The PS was accompanied by the CEC Water Kiambu County – David Kimani Kuria, Chairman Athi Water Works Development Agency Hon. John Kiragu Chege, Chairman National Irrigation Authority Joshua Toro, CEO Athi Water Works Development Agency Eng. Michael M. Thuita, CEO National Irrigation Authority Gitonga Mugambi, Limuru MP Hon. Peter Mwathi, County Commissioner Kiambu and other senior officials.
